‘KĀKANO’ – SEED
Ki te mea ka taka te kākano ki te wāhi e tika ana ka tinaku, ā, ka pihi ake he tipu hou.
If a seed falls in the right place it will germinate and a new seedling will sprout.
From November 2018 – November 2019 the Kākano gallery will be open for business in The Falls Restaurant car park, showcasing a selection of our artworks and merchandise – all available for purchase, cash/EFTPOS & carry!
We are also thrilled to announce that our Gallery will be now run by our very own Tory Whiting, Kākano artist & member since 2013 (seen here in this photo with former Gallery Coordinator, Anusha Bhana).
Proudly supported by Panuku Development Auckland.
Weekly Gallery opening hours: Fri, Sat & Sun, 10am -3pm
Kākano Youth Arts Collective is a unique visual arts initiative for young artists aged between 12 and 20 years old, based at Corban Estate Arts Centre in West Auckland.
Kākano developed from a pilot programme in 2013 as a response to recognising the needs of some of the most vulnerable young people in West Auckland. Since then it has grown and to a hugely successful initiative, and has changed the lives of many young people.
